ISLA’s Education Conference emerged from a need for a space to raise the voices of Latinx/Hispanic parents and students in the education system.
PURPOSE
Latinx/Hispanic voices need to be centered in these issues, as leaders continue to make decisions that impact our families and students. With this in mind, the following four sessions will discuss these issues:

ISLA recognizes the MANY education inequities that have plagued our Brown, Black, Exceptional Children, and English Language Learner communities in the North Carolina Education System. At ISLA, we envision this education conference to be a space to uplift these and other voices that for decades have not been heard nor given the same opportunities as their peers.
GOALS
- Serve as a forum for public discourse about promoting education equity for Latinx/Hispanic students and their families.
- Elevate Latinx/Hispanic voices to advocate for educational opportunities.
- Offer education recommendations for non-Latinx/Hispanic stakeholders to make informed decisions about Latinx/Hispanic family involvement during the COVID-19 Pandemic and beyond.

MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS & PANELISTS
Each session will include a group of experts: parent and/or a student and an education expert to give us a holistic view of the issues at hand. This virtual education conference will be open to school administrators, community members, leaders, families, and allies who envision a more just and equitable society for Latinx/Hispanic students in North Carolina. We anticipate many interested individuals attending this conference and hope to learn from each other to ensure that our Latinx/Hispanic families receive the high-quality education that they deserve.
